Each year, DVSAS presents the Kathleen Marshall Award to an individual who has made an impact in addressing domestic violence and/or sexual assault through their personal or professional endeavors. The award is given in memory of Kathleen Marshall, the DVSAS Executive Director from 1996 to 2007, who devoted her life to helping survivors of violence.
Nomination Process: The Kathleen Marshall Award will be awarded to an outstanding individual who has made significant contributions in addressing the problem of domestic violence and/or sexual assault in Whatcom County. The recipient will have performed above and beyond their expectations and can be a community member employed in any field, including social services, legal, law enforcement, medical, or education. Nominees may not be directly affiliated with DVSAS as a current staff member, board member, or volunteer. Deadline for nominations is Friday, March 30, 2018.
The DVSAS Board of Directors will review nominations and select an award recipient. The Kathleen Marshall Award will be presented to the award recipient at the Victory over Violence Luncheon on April 27, 2018.
The mission of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services is to support individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and sexual exploitation and to lead the community towards ending these abuses of power.
No matter what their circumstances, every person deserves to feel safe, supported and heard. When we talk about individuals affected by domestic violence or sexual assault, we’re talking about every one of us. When 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced violence at the hands of an intimate partner, each and every life has been affected by partner violence or sexual assault.
Whether it’s you, a loved one, a co-worker or a friend, someone you know needs help. And so, DVSAS is there.
